Zapotec Weaving Meets Asphalt Art

Learn about traditional Zapotec weaving practices and meet the lead artists on Saturday, December 20, at the Santa Barbara Farmer’s Market. Artists will share information about traditional art-making techniques, symbolism, and materials, including rug weaving and natural dyes. The showcased methods will serve as inspiration for an upcoming public art installation as part of the Bloomberg Asphalt Art Initiative.

Community members are also encouraged to attend the next workshop, where the artists will continue sharing their creative process:
